“Beyond Borders — hack the #datadome ” brought together an international crowd of developers, computer scientists, business students and designers to come up with creative solutions to use Open Data. For this challenge, participants had the chance to work at an unusual, inspiring venue: the Digital Church in Aachen.
This was the first hackathon organized with Medienhaus Aachen, digitalHUB and Google News Lab, with the support of NetAachen and the STAWAG. Thank you all for a great event!
At the end of two and a half days, eight teams got the chance to pitch their ideas to the jury. Meet the four winners:
(1.500 Euros + 6 Months of coworking space at Digital Church)
A platform that sorts news from all European countries by topic and translates them into different languages.
(1.000 Euro + 3 months of coworking space at Digital Church)
Omnidata collects publicly accessible data and make it comparable through scalling.
(500 Euros + 1 month of coworking space at Digital Church)
BeeAzubis is an app through which school graduates and young professionals can get inspired to seek a career by watching short statements from apprentices explaining the reasons why they value their jobs.

Pattle is a game app where teams located in Aachen can compete against each other and win prizes from local establishments.
